川外学坛举行题为“汉语因果句的理解通达机理:基于e-prime的实验设计与研究”的学术报告

201312127点,川外学坛迎来了本学期第五次学术大视野教师讲堂。本次讲座以“汉语因果句的理解通达机理:基于e-prime的实验设计与研究”为主题,由廖巧云教授主讲,姜孟教授主持。各年级研究生同学参加,报告厅里座无虚席。
在讲座开始之前,2012级研究生陈姝桦同学先与大家分享了两则为人处事的箴言:慎终如始,则无败事。”“欲胜者,必先自胜;欲论人者,必先自论;欲知人者,必先自知。这两则箴言告诫我们:要想有所作为,做事必须谨慎小心,为人必须严于律己,知己知彼。
廖巧云教授报告分为两个部分:第一部分理论建构;第二部分实验设计与研究。在第一部分,廖巧云教授首先简述了研究目的,即通过反应时实验范式验证因果句识解理论模型对不同类型因果句理解通达过程所做的预测。紧接着,廖教授分别从因果句的分类、因果句的识解框架以及因果句识解过程三个方面介绍了该研究理论假设的特征。因果句可以分为逻辑因果句、有标识语的实据因果句和无标识语的实据因果句,而这三种因果句的心理识解过程具有明显的差异。基于因果句识解理论模型,廖教授提出了可操作的研究假设与问题。在第二部分,廖教授谈到了实验目的、实验材料的编写、实验设计原理、实验数据的分析以及实验的结果。她深入浅出、循循善诱的讲解,大大增进了大家对e-prime实验研究的了解,不仅让大家理论上深受启迪,在方法论上也让大家大开眼界
报告之后,姜孟教授做了精彩的总结。他指出,本次报告是廖教授十年治学成就的缩影,报告暨有颇具创意的理论建构,又有精巧、严谨的实验设计,体现了她宽广的学术眼界与治学的严谨性、创新性与包容性
讲座临近尾声时,在座的同学与廖教授进行了热烈的互动。大家对报告中的实验设计尤其感兴趣,大胆地提出自己的质疑和设想。针对同学们的提问,廖教授进行了耐心细致的解答。她也谦逊地谈到,该报告还只是一次先期的小尝试,今后还将运用erps手段做更深入地探索。
最后,本次学坛活动在热烈的掌声中圆满结束。

sisu academic forum “the comprehension accessibility mechanism of chinese causal” held successfully
at 7 pm, dec 12th, 2013, the sisu academic forum was held successfully as scheduled. this symposium, entitled “the comprehension accessibility mechanism of chinese causal”, was presented by professor liao qiaoyun and hosted by professor jiang meng. many postgraduates attended this symposium.
at the beginning of the forum, two maxims were presented as usual, which exhorted us to be a modest and prudent person.
afterwards, professor liao qiaoyun extended her heartfelt thanks to the teachers and students who made their contributions to her experiment. meanwhile, she made a brief introduction about her research background and preparatory work.
professor liao divided the whole lecture into two parts. the first part concerned the construction of her theory; the second part was an illustration of her experimental design based on her theory. at first, professor liao demonstrated that her research purpose: to illustrate that different types of causal differs in comprehension accessibility by means of e-prime paradigm, thereby verifying her theoretical model. afterwards, professor liao elaborated the features of her theory from three aspects respectively, namely, the classification of causal, the construal framework of causal, and the construal process of causal. she classified causal into three types: logical causal, rational causal with signs, and evidential causal without signs, whose construal process had a marked difference. it is based on this hypothesis that professor liao conducted her experiment. in her second part, professor liao stated her experimental purpose, the design of experimental materials, and the analysis of the data as well as the final results. professor liao’s content-rich speech with simple terms enlightened all the students present.
after professor liao’s presentation, professor jiang meng made a summary and spoke highly of this speech. he expressed his appreciation about professor liao’s creative theoretical construction and her scientific experiment. he also mentioned that this research was the fruit of professor liao’ academic research in the past ten years. the great significance of her research rested on her combination of her original theory with empirical study. at the mean time, as a participant of the experiment, professor jiang shared his insights on this research with the students. professor jiang first emphasized the efforts during the process of material design, for it was of vital importance for the final results. then, he pointed that the experimental results was surprisingly consistent with professor liao’s theoretical model, which strongly testified her hypothesis. at last, professor jiang gave us some enlightenment on how to think creatively in order to discover more new research topics.
when it is approaching the end of the forum, the audience made a heated discussion about the report. many postgraduate students showed their special interests on the experiment and boldly proposed their questions and opinions. professor liao answered these questions patiently and attentively, and she also indicated that this research needs further improvement and exploration.
finally, thunderous applause brought the sisu academic forum to a successful close.
